Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and three good things

Hugh’s newest book has an intriguing premise: delicious things you can make with just three main ingredients. Guardian’s food blog is flooded with the recipes just now. Have a look at this one with asparagus, haloumi and new potatoes or this with trout, watercress and spelt. Very nice.

Caramelising onions

Kenji on Serious Eats Food Lab shows how to caramelise onions in about 15 minutes. I feel bad now as I don’t think I’ve ever given them this much attention.

I remember back in 2004 when I still used live of off just sandwiches and red wine. Serious Eats has put together this fantastically thorough glossary of sandwiches. Don’t read if you’re hungry.
